Environment Counts | Even with COP21 world is predicted to warm by more than 2℃ :

The UN Environmental Programme (UNEP) released its annual Emissions Gap report today, the day before the Paris Agreement comes into force. The report found that even with the COP21 committments 2030 emissions are expected to reach 54 to 56 gigatonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent. This is above the level of 42 gigatonnes that has been identified as required for limiting global warming to 2℃ this century. Limiting global warming to under 2℃ this century will reduce the likelihood of more-intense storms, longer droughts, sea-level rise and other severe climate impacts. The predicted 2030 emissions will place the world on track for a temperature rise of 2.9 to 3.4 ℃ this century.
