Environment Counts | U.S. emissions in 2014 down 9% from 2005 :

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has released its annual Inventory of U.S. Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Sinks (GHG Inventory) for 2014. Total U.S. greenhouse emissions were 6,108 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent in 2014, up by 1 % compared to 2013. The inventory shows a 9 % drop in emissions since 2005.
Greenhouse gas emissions 1900-2014
Power plants were the largest source of emissions representing 30 percent of total U.S. greenhouse gas pollution. The transportation sector was the second largest source, at 26 percent.
